PREVENTION THROUGH THE ARTS WORKSHOP
In this hands-on workshop, participants will get the chance to experience a taste of what it is like to be an ensemble member of Stony Brook’s Prevention Through the Arts troupe. Beginning with opening up stories relevant to their health and the health of their peers, to “writing on their feet” and performing, participants will experience how theatre can be a vehicle for social and personal change.
Presented byElizabeth Bojsza is a community-based dramaturg and director, and a faculty member of Stony Brook University’s Department of Theatre Arts. She teaches play analysis, Theater History, and Prevention Through the Arts. She frequently works with ensembles to create performances that have strong connections to the past and/or antecedent material. Past projects include six seasons with America-In-Play under the artistic direction of Lynn M. Thomson (www.americainplay.org), three seasons with the iconic Swamp Gravy in Colquitt, Georgia (swampgravy.com), five years serving as the Literary Manager of Young Playwrights Inc., and one year as the Literary Manager and Reading Series Curator of Airmid Theatre Company (www.airmidtheatre.org).
