#ENOUGH and Writing the 10 - Minute Play

Practice the fundamentals of building a short play centered on a social justice theme in this crash course by acclaimed playwright and Break Beat poet Idris Goodwin. Idris will guide participants (and observers) through the process of starting to write their own play for #ENOUGH: Plays to End Gun Violence, a 10-min play competition that calls on teens to write stories for the stage confronting gun violence - work that young writers can later build on and submit to the competition.

Idris Goodwin is a multidisciplinary arts leader and creative community builder. Across two decades, Idris has forged a diverse career as an award-winning playwright, Break Beat poet, director, educator, and organizer. Idris served two seasons as Producing Artistic Director at StageOne Family Theatre. Passionate about cultivating new audiences in the arts, Goodwin actively serves on both the advisory boards of Theatre for Young Audiences USA and Children's Theatre Foundation Association. Idris is the newly appointed Director of The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College.
