Moment Work

Moment Work™ is the groundbreaking process of devising new work developed by Moisés Kaufman and Tectonic Theater Project to create works such as Here There Are Blueberries, The Laramie Project, Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, and 33 Variations, among others. Moment Work explores the theatrical potential of all the elements of the stage in order to create strong theatrical and dramatic narratives from the ground up. Moment Work gives us the freedom to create individual, self-contained theatrical units (Moments) and to sequence these units together into theatrical phrases that eventually become a play. Participants will explore the principles of Moment Work and devised theater and expand their idea of who has agency in how we tell stories on stage and what those stories can be.

Tectonic Theater Project develops innovative works that explore theatrical language and form, fostering an artistic dialogue with our audiences on the social, political and human issues that affect us all. In service to this goal, Tectonic supports workshops, full theatrical productions, and training for students around the country in our play-making techniques. Groundbreaking plays (The Laramie Project, Here There Are Blueberries, Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, and I Am My Own Wife, among others) have sparked national discourse about their subjects and have inspired artists and audiences worldwide. www.tectonictheaterproject.org
