Dance Your Voice
This workshop will showcase a dance created by LIU Post Director of Dance Professor Fritzlyn Hector and the Post Dance Company in response to social issues. Participants will learn about the choreographic process and will have the opportunity to create their own short dance pieces in relation to relevant social issues such as civil rights and climate change.

Fritzlyn Hector is a Bessie Award-winning director, performer, choreographer, and educator with a professional career spanning 22 years, and is currently the Director of Dance at LIU Post. She has performed and created work across prestigious stages, from Broadway theaters to international festivals, showcasing expertise in contemporary jazz, hip-hop, Afro-fusion, and street dance styles, African diaspora dances, body percussion, and percussion. As a cast trainer and performer, Fritzlyn has toured with STOMP nationally and internationally. Her wide-ranging credits also include The Jimmy Fallon Show, Harry Connick Jr. Show, Good Morning America, VH1 Hip Hop Honors, Netflix: Julie Andrews' Greenroom, Google Maps Live Wire commercial, New York City Center Fall for Dance Festival, international performances at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town, South Africa, La Cigale Theatre in Paris, France, and the Adelaide Arts Festival in Australia. Film credits include principal roles in Amazon Prime's Musica and the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures' The Bride.

The LIU Post Concert Dance Company (PCDC) is a pre-professional dance company at LIU Post directed by Fritzlyn Hector. PCDC dancers rigorously train and rehearse a wide range of dance genres, including modern, jazz, tap, musical theatre dance, ballet, Afro fusion styles, contemporary, and hip hop. PCDC performs annual concerts that feature works by notable professional guest artists, LIU Post dance faculty, and selected student choreographers. PCDC also won the Broadway World LI Award for Best Dance Production for its Rhapsody Production. www.liu.edu/post
