Dance Your Voice
This workshop will showcase a dance created by LIU Post Director of Dance Professor Fritzlyn Hector and the Post Dance Company in response to social issues. Participants will learn about the choreographic process and will have the opportunity to create their own short dance pieces in relation to relevant social issues such as civil rights and climate change.

Fritzlyn Hector is a performer, choreographer, educator, and director seasoned with a professional career of 22 years and is currently the Director of Dance at LIU Post. She taught at Hofstra University, Princeton University, New York University, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and Earl Mosely’s Diversity Dance program. Fritzlyn directed the Fritzation Experience and won a 2021 Bessie Award for her dance film Steel Standing. Credits include Jimmy Fallon Show, Good Morning America, VH1 Hip Hop Honors, Harry Connick Jr Show, Live Wire Google Maps commercial, NETFLIX Julie’s Greenroom starring Julie Andrews, and is currently filming an Amazon Prime film.

The LIU Post Concert Dance Company (PCDC) is a pre-professional dance company at LIU Post directed by Fritzlyn Hector. PCDC dancers train and rehearse dance genres such as modern, jazz, tap, ballet, African, hip hop, contemporary, and Broadway dances. PCDC performs annual concerts that feature works by notable professional guest artists, LIU Post dance faculty, and selected student choreography. PCDC also performs its annual Spring Choreographers Showcase at Symphony Space in Manhattan. PCDC performed in two dance films: “Dance The Change” and “ENCORE”
